What to Expect;

This 3 Day Adventure to the Home of Uganda’s Gorillas- Bwindi Impenetrable NP/ Mgahinga Gorilla NP will take you along unwinding beautiful Roads to the South West of Uganda. The perfect road trip for Guests looking to visit the Gorillas of Uganda. You will have short stop overs at the Equator before proceeding south to the Gorilla Parks of Uganda.

Next Day, your Guide will drive you to the Park Office for Check in and Briefing. Here, you are assigned a Gorilla Family to Track for the Day and a complimentary hot cup of Coffee, before embarking into the Park for the Trekk these elusive Gentle Giants. Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ current location. Your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

Note: Ritz safaris purchases the permits in advance but is unable to reserve a specific gorilla group as it is for the Park Authorities to decide this!

Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala-Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP/ Mgahinga Gorilla NP.

Your Trip will starts from the Airport where your English Speaking Guide will meet you, Brief you before driving you to your Hotel in Entebbe or Kampala to rest after which you will be picked up in the morning by 7am after Breakfast. Your Guide will brief you about the Trip ahead after which you will start your Drive to South Western Uganda. An 8 Hour Drive to the Home of the Gorillas. You will have Lunch along the way before eventually reaching your Lodge where you will check in and rest the Night in preparation for Gorilla Trekking the next Day.

Driving Distance: 8 hours

Meal Plan: Full Board, Snacks & Soft Refreshments.

Activities: Airport Pickup, Transfer to Mgahinga/Bwindi Impenetrable NP.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience- Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

You will have early Breakfast at around 6am then proceed to drive to the Park Reception Offices for Briefing. You will then be assigned a Group and Gorilla family to Trekk for the day after which you will be driven to your starting Point and enter into the Jungle in search of the elusive Gentle Giants. The Trekk takes between 2-6 hours depending on where the Family is feeding from for the Day. Gorilla Trekking by far is still every Traveller’s Dream Experience and caps off what must always be an amazing African Safari Experience. After a successful Gorilla Trekking Experience, we will then head for Lunch then drive to the popular Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in Uganda and 2^nd deepest Lake in Africa after Lake Tanganyika. Here you will check at your Lodge and thereafter an evening Sunset Boat Ride on the Lake where you will visit the many small islands on the Lake including the famous “Punishment Island” where Girls who had got pregnant out of wedlock where abandoned and left to perish. The Lake and the Islands there in are home to more than 200 Bird Species making it a perfect haven for most Bird Enthusiasts. You will therafter head back to your Lodge for Dinner and the night.

Activities: Gorilla Trekking + Transfer back to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport.

You will have early Breakfast at 7am after which you will start your 8hr Drive back to Kampala with a stopover on the way for Lunch. Your Guide will therafter drop you off at your Hotel or at the Airport marking the end of your trip with us.

Driving Distance: 8 hours

Meal Plan: Full Board, Snacks & Soft Refreshments.

Activities: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport
