    What to Expect;

    Rwanda has only 1 Savannah National Park. This 1,122 sq. Km Mass of Land is the Largest and only one with Wetland adapted species in the Great Lakes Region. It is Home to Africa’s Big 5 Including The large African Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Buffaloes as well as the other smaller Species like Antelopes and Zebras. Akagera NP is also home to amazing aquatic Life like the Large Nile Crocodiles, Hippos as well as Aquatic Birds like African Fish Eagles and Pied King Fishers. For the Bird Lovers, the Park is home to more than 550 Bird Species making it a truly Birding Paradise.

    Itinerary

    Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park

    Your Trip will start at 8am at your Pick up Point (Hotel/Airbnb or Residence) where you will be met by our English Speaking Guide. You will then be briefed about the Trip ahead and proceed to drive towards the Eastern part of Rwanda specifically Akagera National Park.

    There will be a short coffee stopover at Imigongo Cafe before proceeding to the Southern Entrance of the Park where you will check-in at around 11am do a short detour Game Drive to the Nyamwashama Plains before heading to your Hotel for Lunch and afternoon relaxation. You will then head out later in the evening for a Night Game Drive in search of the more elusive nocturnal animals like Hyenas and Leopards that you otherwise wouldn’t get to see during the day.

    Drive Time: 7 hrs including Game Drive

    Activities: Half Day Game Drive + Night Game Drive

     

    Day 2:  Morning Boat Ride – Transfer to Karenge Bush Camp

    Your 2nd Day in the amazing Akagera NP will start with a relaxed Breakfast at 7am at your Hotel before heading out for a morning Boat Ride on Lake Ihema. Akagera NP being a Protected Wetland is home to many small Lakes and Rivers prominent of which is Akagera River after which the Park is named. The Biggest Lake there in being Lake Ihema where the Boat ride will take place. It’s a 1-2 hour activity in search of Wildlife coming down to the Water source for a morning Drink as well as Food. Common sightings here include Elephants drinking water, Hippos swimming, Crocodiles as well as numerous Bird Species like the African Fish Eagles that come to catch some Fish for Breakfast.

    After your Boat Ride, you will proceed to do a Short Game Drive towards the Northern loops of the Park where we shall check-in at Karenge Bush Camp for Lunch before proceeding for more wildlife viewing and return later for the Night.

    Driving Distance: 6-7 Hours including Game Drives.

    Meal Plan: Full Board +Snacks & Soft Refreshments

    Activities: Morning Boat Ride + Game Drive.

     

     

    Day 3:  Rhino tracking + Half Day Game Drive – Transfer back to Kigali

    You will have Breakfast and proceed to head out on an early morning Rhino Tracking Activity in the Kilala Plains with the Park Team of Rangers who head out every morning to monitor the health of the White Rhinos. This will be done on Foot. You will then later proceed to another Game Drive towards the Northern Exit of the Park in search of more of the Big 5. Your Drive will take you through a scenic Enchantment as the views here of the low lying plains are breath-taking. You will head through the Kilala Plains in search of the Lions which are common sightings there as well as other Wildlife like Zebras, Giraffes and African Cape Buffaloes among others. We shall then head to the Northern Exit of the Park and proceed to drive back to Kigali marking the end of your Safari with us.

    Driving Distance: 6 hours

    Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Soft Refreshments.

    Activities: Rhino Tracking + Half Day Game Drive.
