The King’s palace is located in the Southern Province in a place called Nyanza at about 55 miles from the capital city, Kigali. It was built in 1932 for the King Mutara III Rudahigwa and his beloved wife, Queen Rosalie Gicanda. The Royal Palace is made with entirely cultural items with the long-horned traditional cows being the recently acquired for the museum. It is an impressive sight. The royal compound is where those long horned traditional cows are found wandering around listening to lullabies that are sung by their cow herders. The royal palace where the King resided until his death is upon a hill and there you meet a local to guide you through the house, its rooms while explaining our history and the origin of some of the items.
